Head Teacher

Reporting to: the Managing Director

Job Description

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Head Teacher will be responsible for leadership, supervisory and management of the school both at Pre-primary and Primary levels.

He/she will be responsible for driving the school growth initiatives and new markets.

The candidate will define the responsibilities and accountability of staff members and oversee the plans for interpreting the school curriculum.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the vision for the school is clearly articulated, shared, understood and acted upon effectively by all
  • Building a strong and cohesive culture that is supported by effective systems and structures
  • Lead the development and implementation of teaching approaches, methodologies and schemes of work
  • Setting targets and goals for school staff through a participative process
  • Providing regular feedback to colleagues in a way that recognizes good practice and supports their progress against professional and performance management objectives
  • Conducting annual reviews based on standards of leadership, teaching and learning in specific areas of responsibility.
  • Monitoring coverage of the syllabus, quality of teaching and effectiveness of learning outcomes
  • Ensuring teachers have all necessary working resources required in undertaking their responsibilities
  • Providing leadership in guiding the various co-curricular activities and school-based events
  • Working closely with senior school management/Directors to achieve high levels of team spirit and synergy
  • Handling behaviour rectification matters to develop unique, courteous, respectful individuals.
  • Maintain high level of discipline in the school for both teachers and students
  • Building effective relationships with parents, education partners and external stakeholders.
  • Managing school operations

Qualifications

  • Holder of degree or Diploma in Education (Primary) or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 5 years relevant working experience in a school set up, 2 years of which should have been in a leadership position. Experience as a Senior Teacher or Head of department will be an added advantage
  • Demonstrate proven track record in educational leadership including school administration, classroom instruction, lesson plans, student assessment and staff development.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that enables open communication with parents, teachers and learners.
  • A self-motivated, energetic person who enjoys working in a busy and dynamic working environment.
  • The flexibility to learn and adapt to new cultures with good coaching and mentoring skills
  • Demonstrates ability to think and act critically, creatively and independently
  • Pro-active, mature and committed individual who can work with minimum supervision
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft packages
  • Registration with Teacher Service Commission (TSC).
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct which should not be more than six months old

 

ECDE Teachers

Reporting to: the Head Teacher

We seek to fill these key vacant positions with high calibre, self- motivated; result oriented and experienced professionals to join our team.

 

Job Description

Reporting to the Head Teacher, the ECDE Teacher will be responsible for implementation of the ECDE component of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).

Responsibilities:

  • Role modelling, guidance and counselling ,mentoring and motivation of the learners
  • Ensuring the safety and security of the leaners.
  • Assist in designing, organizing and facilitating play/learning activities for learners
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating play/learning activities for the learners.
  • Caring and nurturing spiritual, moral, social, mental, physical, aesthetic and emotional growth of the learners (holistic development )
  • Managing ECDE classes and keeping professional and administrative records (scheme of work, lesson plans, daily programme of activities, attendance registers etc.)
  • Preparing and developing play/learning materials
  • Implement Competency Based Curriculum (CBC);
  • Ensure admission of children and enrol them in the attendance register on daily basis;
  • Prepare schemes of work and lesson plans for teaching/learning process;
  • Organize and participate in field visits for ECDE children;
  • Identify children with special needs in learning;
  • Prepare assessment reports for individual children in their class;
  • Organize Co-curriculum activities for ECDE children;
  • Prepare and develop adequate teaching/learning materials;
  • Enhance a safe and conducive learning environment of children;
  • Implement ECDE policies and procedures at the ECDE Centre;
  • Prepare learners portfolio;
  • Perform any other duty that will be assigned to you by your immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

Requirements and competencies for appointment:

  • Professional Certificate or Diploma in Early Childhood Development Education offered by KNEC/Ministry of Education or its approved equivalent
  • Registered by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
  • A Certificate in Computer applications
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct which should not be more than six months old
  • Valid medical report from a registered government health facility.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience
  • MUST be fully CBC Trained

 

Primary School Teachers

Reporting to: the Head Teacher

We seek to fill these key vacant positions with high calibre, self- motivated; result oriented and experienced professionals to join our team.

 

Job Description

Responsible for planning, preparing teaching and learning materials and executing appropriate activities for the children each day according to the curriculum, schemes of work and lesson plans.

Responsibilities:

  •  Prepare and plan relevant creative and educative teaching activities
  • Maintain positive, constructive and professional relationships with pupils, their families and colleagues.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of the pupils and maintain an organized and focused learning environment.
  •  Infuse joy and passion for learning in lessons so that pupils are excited and invested in their academic excellence.
  •  Provide necessary accommodations and modifications for the growth and success of all pupils.
  •  Be accountable for pupils’ mastery of academic standards.
  • Integrate interactive technology into lessons to enhance instructional delivery.
  • Set and communicate rigorous and ambitious goals for all pupils and provide pupil feedback so they
    internalize them.
  • Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for pupil behaviour.
  • Consistently meet the ambitious goals of a rapidly-growing organization.

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Education (Primary) or equivalent qualification.
  • Registered with TSC(indicate TSC number)
  • MUST be fully trained on CBC
  • At least 2 years teaching experience.
  •  Proficiency in English & Kiswahili; both written and spoken
  • A Certificate in Computer applications. Skills in coding will be an added advantage.
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct which should not be more than six months old
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • A sound understanding of recent developments in the primary school curriculum.
  • A good communicator with effective written and verbal communication
  • Interest in supporting co-curricular activities
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision

 

Position: Operations Officer

Reporting to: the Head Teacher with matrix management with the MD.

Job Description

Are you a highly-motivated, innovative, multi-tasking and hardworking Operations professional with a background in finance, Human Resources, Administration, Logistics, Communications and IT? Are you passionate about supporting general operations of a dynamic learning institution?  You will get a great opportunity to coordinate a wide range of operational tasks at the institution to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities:

Finance:

  • Maintaining proper financial systems, policies and procedures
  • Budget preparation and management
  • Ensuring the organisation adheres to all tax compliance requirements
  • Ensures school fees collection system is effective and efficient
  • Ensures compliance with audit requirements

Administration:

  • Supports the Head Teacher in executing administrative functions including admissions of learners.
  • Ensures strict adherence to school policies and standards
  • Maintaining efficient filing system

Human Resources:

  • Supports the Head Teacher and Managing Director in managing HR functions including statutory deductions compliance such as NSSF, NHIF.
  • Maintaining staff files both electronic and hard copies

Logistics:

  • Coordinates transport services
  • Oversees supply chain
  • Manages stores
  • Oversees facilities and premises maintenance
  • Manages safety and security including providing oversight of security staff
  • Maintain the School’s estate to a good, safe and secure standard, making pro-active and costed recommendations for the school’s improvement.

Communications & Marketing:

  • Coordinate internal communications
  • Coordinate external communications
  • Coordinate branding and marketing

ICT:

  • Supporting ICT infrastructure and services ensuring optimum functionality and excellent services
  • Ensures school website and social media accounts are regularly updated.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Finance, Operations management, or equivalent qualification.
  • Accounting qualification
  • Computer applications certification
  • Excellent communications skills including spoken, written, web and social media.
  • Marketing skills
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in operations management in a private school or equivalent context.

Position: School Chef

Reporting to: Operations Officer

Job Description

Are you passionate about food, beverage and hospitality management? Do you have the pre-requisite knowledge, skills and experience? Jakson School is looking for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake menu preparation in consultation with the Operations Officer.
  • Perform skilled cooking duties, grilling, saucier and accurately following a planned menu.
  • Prepare, cook and serve the main meals, snacks, etc in accordance with specified menus and timings.
  • Determine quantities to be cooked and size of portions to be served, taking into account dietary, medical and personal needs.
  • Oversee washing and cleaning of floors, crockery, utensils, work surfaces and other kitchen equipment to ensure that the necessary hygiene, health and safety precautions are taken into consideration
  • Maintain food temperatures, food quality and appearance of prepared food.
  • Maintain proper function of kitchen equipment
  • Ensure appropriate clothing, including head wear, is worn at all times.
  • Work closely with other cooks to ensure correct preparation and delivery of food including quality maintenance.
  • Assures proper safety, hygiene and sanitation practices are followed.
  • Maintains established standards of sanitation, safety, and food preparation and storage as set by the local and state health departments; maintains an orderly, sanitary, and safe kitchen.
  • Report safety violations, hazards, accidents, and pest infestation problems immediately.
  • Maintain a current certificate of medical examination.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned by the line manager

Qualifications

  • Diploma/Certificate in food and beverage production
  • At least three years’ experience in a high end catering establishment or learning institution.
  • Good knowledge in Health and Safety in the Kitchen, including hygiene and sanitization
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct which should not be more than six months old
  • Valid Food Handler Certificate
  • Analytical mind and problem-solving skills
  • Computer applications certification

 

 

Position: Housekeeper

Reporting to: Operations Officer

Job Description

Are you passionate about hygiene? Do you believe in keeping the environment clean? Do you have the prerequisite knowledge, skills, attitude and experience? Would you like to apply your skills and experience to serve in a young, dynamic and futuristic learning institution? Jakson School is looking for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Keeping facilities and common areas clean and maintained.
  • Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors.
  • Cleaning and stocking restrooms.
  • Cleaning up spills with appropriate equipment.
  • Notifying managers of necessary repairs.
  • Collecting and disposing of trash.
  • Assisting guests when necessary.
  • Keeping the linen room stocked.
  • Properly cleaning upholstered furniture

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in housekeeping or related field.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in housekeeping in hospitality or educational institution.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently.
  • Work well unsupervised.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and interact positively with people.
  • Passion for the job
  • Hard worker.
  • Computer applications certification
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct which should not be more than six months old
